Description
Horse back into Utah's remote Uinta wilderness. Fly fish or spin fish streams and lakes for arctic grayling colorful brook trout, Colorado cutthroat, and even tiger trout. Your knowledgeable guides and staff will assist you in having one of the greatest fishing adventures imaginable. This outfitter operates in 11 different locations or drainages in these mountains. The horse rides vary from 6 to 15 miles depending on what species and location you're interested in.
The Uinta Mountains of northeastern Utah are unique in that they are the highest mountain range in Utah and the only major range of mountains in the contiguous United States to lie in an east and west direction. King's Peak, Utah's tallest point of land, standing at 13,528 feet. This is a country of snow-capped mountains, large alpine basins dotted with lakes, steep rocky slopes, green meadows and tall trees. There are well over 1,000 natural lakes in the headwater regions of the Uinta Mountains, with more than 650 of these lakes supporting populations of game fish. Some of these lakes are so remote that they have little to no fishing pressure, so even the most novice fishermen can catch fish.
These trips are designed for both the beginner and advanced fisherman. Already know how to fish? Well, we'll get you to the water and set you free. Or maybe you'd like to watch one of your kids lay their first fly line across a lake, maybe catch their first fish unassisted. These experienced guides know what works best in these lakes and streams and will help you stay on the fish. Though these fish aren't giant, you will catch a bunch. Catch and release is highly recommended, but keeping a few for lunch is ok too.
These are pack-in trips where you'll stay at a base camp for the duration of your stay. But you can ride or hike out to different lakes or locations if you choose. This outfitter not only does fishing trips, they also assist in drop camps, backpacking, highpointing, photography and more. Accommodations on these trips include comfortable tents for guests and a large kitchen fly where delicious home style meals are cooked for your enjoyment.
All you need is a sleeping bag, air mattress, and your personal gear. Your guides will take care of the rest, including fishing gear if you need it. A gear list and directions to the trailhead will be provided by the outfitter once you have booked.
You will meet your guide(s) at the trailhead early in the day to get your gear weighed, loaded and onto the pack horses. This gets you onto camp early enough to get settled in, relax from the horse ride, and maybe a little fishing in before dark.
Riders over 250lbs can be accommodated by special arrangement only, and are contingent upon stock availability.
