Hunting the Central Barren Ground Caribou has become much more difficult from just 10 years ago. Permit numbers have been greatly reduced and in some areas, non-native hunting has been closed altogether. The area where this hunt takes place in Northern Manitoba still has a strong and healthy herd of caribou and this outfitter is allocated a substantial number of permits each year. And though it is still legal to take 2 caribou, he has chosen to limit each hunter to 1 so that the herd numbers are not reduced and there isn't a reason to close the caribou season all together.

Hunters take a charter flight from Thompson Manitoba directly to the comfortable and modern lodge situated on the shores of a large pristine lake. From here, you will be flown 45 miles further north to the caribou migration corridor and the hunting cabins. These cabins have hot running water and can accommodate up to 6 hunters.

Over the past 10 years, the hunter success on this hunt has been exceptionally high. The vast majority of hunters have taken a bull with some choosing to take a second bull (2nd bull is no longer available). History has shown that this outfitter is able to produce great bulls for their hunters. This is a migratory herd of caribou but the overall success has been very good.

These hunts are booked as 7-days with 5 full hunting days and a travel day on each end. For those hunters interested in a moose, if permits are still available, this species can be added to your hunt. There are a limited number of moose permits available each year and may require booking several years in advance.
